Sandra Amy is Making a Return
Malabar seems to be the flavour of the season with yet another film set against the backdrop of the region. This film will also see the return of Sandra Amy after a hiatus in Mollywood.
For the uninitiated, Sandra had acted in Kasturiman and Swapnakoodu and was more popular as a VJ. She will be seen in Shiv Shankar’s next untitled film in a powerful role.
This role was what Sandra was waiting for to step back into M’Town.
“This is a very good opportunity! The character is very strong and it is a Malabar based subject. Of course, that means that I have to get acquainted with the Malabar slang and I am conversing with various people from that area and learning the language from them.”
Sandra will be playing a character who passes through two phases; youth and a mature one.
Speaking about her absence from the Mollywood circuit she says, “I was not getting good roles and I was studying, so I did not take up the offers.” She is also acting in an International music album.
Kollywood has also welcomed her with good roles and Sandra was noted for her role in the Samudhirakani directed Porali. Other offers are also pouring in from Kollywood with a woman-oriented movie called Sivappu Enakku Pidikkum in which she plays a prostitute.
She adds, “Though the theme is based on a sex worker, it is a family entertainer. I am also doing the lead in a Tamil film called Dharani which will see me as a village belle.”
Sandra informs that though respect for stars is more in Kollywood, talent is in Mollywood.
