Trade Report: Not a Great Week for TFI | Last Week Releases David Billa and Tuneega Tuneega Flops | Next Week Release Julayi

Trade Report: Not a Great Week for TFI

2012 has been lucky for Telugu cinema until now. Especially the first half of this year was so good with so many biggies hitting bull's eye and small films doing wonderful business. Even the second half started on a bright note with Eega taking a flying start. However, after Eega there is not much to talk about.

Eega did extremely well until its third weekend and later the collections dropped drastically. At the start of second week trade expected it to be a huge hit like Dookudu and Gabbar Singh if not Magadheera. But Eega finally ended up as a super hit. It couldn't attain the blockbuster status given its high budget. Last week's release Uu Kodatara Ulikki Padatara enjoyed a decent start, but failed to stay high in the week days.

UKUP collected around 6.10 crores share in AP in its first week. It will be hard for this film to recover its costs at this rate. Other movies in the market like David Billa and Tuneega Tuneega aren't getting collections enough to meet the theater rents. On a whole, last week is not so great for Tollywood. This week had a weak start with the new releases like Jism 2 and Mr. 7 getting bad reception. Next weekend should be great as Julayi is striking the screens on Thursday.
