No Superhero Behind Jeeva's 'Mask':
Proudly called as first superhero film of Indian cinema, 'Mask' (Mugamoodi in Tamil), has simply disappointed movie lovers by proving that it is not of that cadre. 'Rangam' movie fame 'Jeeva' is here with his second magnum opus 'Mask' and the first talk for you.
Jeeva's 'Mask' opened to mixed responses at various theatres in Andhra and Tamilnadu. Unlike our expectation, Jeeva is not any superhero with super natural powers but a martial arts teacher who uses the dress of 'superhero' to impress his girlfriend and falls in trouble. When labelled as a big robber, the super hero character tries for two and half hours to come out of that image and another regular climax at the end, beating villain, getting love.
Acclaimed director Mysskin delivers yet another different yet simple story and narrates it brilliantly. Hero Jeeva, Malayalam actor Narain as villain and background score will keep you glued to seats, irrespective of the slow pace of the flick and will give Hollywood feel sometimes.
The big drawback for this film is the misconception that it is a super-hero movie like Superman, Spiderman and Batman. Otherwise, this flick will spread like slow poison and maybe a gives a good run in A centres, where people don't care about masala elements.
