Aishwarya Rai Honoured by French Govt:
Aishwarya Rai Bachan was conferred a civilian award, Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters, by the French government, yesterday on the occassion of her birthday. The honour was in recognition of her contribution to the arts. Francois Richier, the ambassador of France to India conferred the honour upon her at a ritzy hotel yesterday. Ash was delighted and thanked the French government for the honor in all humility. She also thanked her family for being supportive and encouraging her always. Shah Rukh Khan and Nanditha Das were the former recipients of this award. Hubby Abhishek Bachan and the rest of her family except Jaya Bachan were present at the award ceremony. Amitabh Bachan says he is proud that his daughter-in-law, actress Aishwarya Rai Bachan has been chosen to receive a civilian award by the French government.
