Thuppaki Collects 65.32 Crores in First Week:

Directed by A.R. Murugadoss and opened on Diwali [Nov 13] in over 1000 screens worldwide. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, ‘Thuppakki’ collected Rs.1.18cr in Britain, Rs.1.76cr in the US and Rs.37.99lakhs in Australia, in its opening weekend.
Kajal Agarwal played Vijay’s love interest in Thuppakki and the movie deals about a captain from the Indian army, played by Vijay, who is on a vacation in Mumbai and gets involved in a terrorist scheme, which turns out to be bigger than anticipated.
Makers had to cut a few scenes from the film a few days after its release, following concerns raised by members of the Muslim community who felt that certain scenes would hurt their sentiments. “Some scenes were cut following the protest, but that hardly had any impact on the film’s run at the box-office,” Trinath added.
Satyan, Mano Bala, Vidyut Jamwal and Jayaram featured key roles in Thuppakki, which has music by Harris Jayaraj, cinematography by Santosh Sivan ASC and editing by A. Sreekar Prasad among the crew.
