Shocker: Kamal's Vishwaroopam in TV
Kamal Hassan is not only a versatile actor, but the one who thinks differently and always open to take challenges. A radical decision taken by him recently has sent shock-waves in the Entertainment Industry.
Reportedly, the actor was in talks with all India distributors for the past few months to make a pre-release business of Rs 100 crores with the Telugu, Tamil and Hindi versions of his much-awaited film Vishwaroopam. However, the discussions weren't fruitful because many of them have opined that the amount quoted has been too high for a film which has terrorists backdrop.
Immediately, Kamal came up with a radical idea of releasing Vishwaroopam in all the 3 languages simultaneously along with the theatrical release in major TV networks all over India to achieve his target Rs 100 crore. Discussions were on for a first-day release with DTH Operators (Tata Sky, Dish TV, Reliance and Airtel). As per the estimations, Kamal will be pocketing around Rs 50 crores for Day 1 with this paid subscriptions which permit the users for one-time watch of Vishwaroopam.
Shocked with the development, Tamilnadu theatre owners association is planning to ban Vishwaroopam in the state as they fear if this idea becomes a success many more films will follow the same path leading to the drop of theatrical collections and shutdown of theaters. Will Kamal backs-off his plans or takes up the challenge is to be seen!
