The latest film – “Nayak” starring popular hero Ram Charan Teja, landed in a controversy on the first of its release on Wednesday.

Former Congress MLA from Parawada in Visakhapatnam district Gandi Babji launched an agitation in front of the theatres in Visakhpatnam in protest against naming of the villain after him in Nayak. He called up director V V Vinayak and producer D V V Danayya and lodged his protest, demanding that the name of the villain be changed immediately.

In the film, the name of the villain is Gandipeta Babji (played by Rahul Dev). The former MLA feels that it is closer to his name Gandi Babji and there is every possibility that it would send a wrong message to the people of his constituency. He demanded that the name of the villain be changed within 24 hours, failing which he threatened to file a criminal case against the producer and director.

It is learnt that Vinayak has agreed to change the name to end the controversy.
