It is already known that Amitabh Bachchan's 1970s super hit Zanjeer remake is also titled the same to retrieve the soul of the original. However, the Telugu version needs a different title to make the film reach out to the masses.
As per the unit sources, Merupu is the title under consideration for the Telugu version of Zanjeer. Few more catchy titles were also being considered, but Charan is keen on Merupu as it's powerful and appeals to the masses.
Merupu is the title of Charan and director Dharani's out-and-out mass entertainer which was stalled after the first schedule as the Chiru had given thumbs down after having a look at the rushes. Later, Charan worked for Racha on the same banner and scored a much-needed hit. Now, the actor wants to cash in on that powerful title which went unused.
As the release date is approaching faster, an official announcement from the makers regarding the title will be out soon. Until then, keep guessing!
