Hyderabad: Cinema ticket rates in single screen theatres are being revised in the state. The Rs 10 ticket will cost Rs 25 and the Rs 55 ticket is being hiked to Rs 75. Though a GO is yet to be issued to this effect, it is learnt that a decision on the matter has been taken by the government.
In all probability, the hike may be announced on January 15, after Sankranti.
While exhibitors have been pursuing the issue with the state government for
hiking the ticket rates, the decision of the government is against what the Telugu Film Producers Council (TFPC) had resolved in its general body meeting.
The TFPC had said there should be no hike in ticket rates as it would not only be a burden on filmgoers but may have a negative impact on the film industry as people may not come to watch movies.
The state government, however, is reported to have taken a decision in favour of hike as some big film producers were learnt to have lobbied for it.
