Varadanayaka, much-delayed project, is an action film starring Sudeep, Chiranjeevi Sarja, Sameera Reddy and Nikeesha Patel. It is a remake of Telugu superhit film Lakshyam, which starred Gopichand and Anushka Shetty in the lead roles.
fter working together with Sudeep in Kempe Gowda, producer Shankare Gowda decided to team up with him again and acquired the remake rights of Lakshyam. The actor did not have any qualms to work with the producer and gave green signal for the project. Then, Chiranjeevi Sarja was chosen and Sudeep's role was enlarged to attract his fans.
It has to be noted that in the original version, Jagapathi Babu has a small role but here the Kiccha will be seen in the major part of the film. In the early stage, it was said that Priyamani, who had worked with Sudeep in Only Vishnuvardhana, was approached but she turned down the film. Later, Sameera Reddy was signed and prior to her, second fiddle Nikesha Patel was zeroed in on to romance Chiru in the movie. And also the other crew was selected with Ayyappa P Sharma helming the project.
