Ongole Gitta has hit the big-screens today on a grand scale, which is the comeback film of director Bommarillu Bhaskar after Orange. Ongole Githa is an out and out mass entertainer with the backdrop set in Mirchi yard. BVSN Prasad produced the film with good technical values on the banner of Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra Pvt Ltd.Ongole Githa has musical scores by GV Prakash and Mani Sharma, fights by Selva, dialogues by Surendra Krishna and cinematography by A Venkatesh.

As Ram's earlier film 'Endukante Premanta' was a flop, he also pinned all his hopes on this film. Bhaskar who had the reputation of class director is trying a mass flick ‘Ongole Gitta’ . Obviously, this film is a big test for him too.

Story:

Young boy White enters into Ongole Mirchi Yard on a mission. Mirchi Yard Chairman Aadikeshavulu (Prakashraj) is a responsible man who is respected by the business community. As time goes on White grows into eneregtic youngster (Ram) with his eye set on acquiring the Chairman post. In the process, local MLA (Ahuti Prasad) strikes a deal with Aadikeshavulu to shift the Yard to outskirts of the town for their personal benefit of Rs.100 Crores. Meanwhile, White gets enegaged to Aadikeshavulu's daughter Sandhya (Kriti) against the wish of Aadikeshavulu.

There is a hidden cruel face of Aadikeshavulu which no one knows. How is White connected to Aadikeshavulu? What is the flashback where in White's father Narayana aka Bangarraju (Prabhu), the Mirchi Yard Chairman was backstabbed by Aadikeshavulu, his brother Manga Babu (Abhimanyu Singh) and Durga (Ajay)? How White has taken the revenge on Aadikeshavulu exposing his other side? All these form the rest.

Performances :

Ram has once again given an energetic performance. No doubts, Ram stands upto his title of Eneregtic Star with maturity shown in dialogues, dances and action scenes. His chemistry with Kriti was a bit artificial

Kriti Kharbanda is beautiful and has done her job in a limited role she was offered.Ram and Kriti share good chemistry on screen. She showed her Navel more than her face.

Prakash Raj is the real stealer of the show As Adikesavulu. He is a major asset to the film. Though he acted in many films as antagonist, this role is different as he has to show good side and bad side of the role in a single scene. He did commendable job.

Prabhu is under utilized as father of Ram. Abhimanyu Singh, Ajay appear in less prominent roles. Ahuti Prasad is routine as local MLA.Ali tried to bring laughs towards the climax. Kishore Das do their best to bring about some humour but they are only partially successful Raghu Babu is entertaining. Rest of the cast is OK.

Technical Aspects:

Cinematography by Venkatesh is commendable . GV Prakash songs might sound good to listen but the picturisation was average. BGM by Manisharma is OK. Bhaskar has attempted to infuse some double meaning dialogues into the comedy scenes but that is not his forte and the end result is not satisfactory.

Unfortunately, he utterly failed in treatment and direction. The screenplay is haywire and outdated. Marthand Venkatesh should have done better on editing.Music is big drawback to the movie. Director Bhaskar who is known for good music sense faltered in judging mass oriented songs. Action scenes are well composed.

Plus Points:

Ram's Performance
Kriti Kharbanda's glamour
Prakash Raj major asset to the film
Raghu Babu, Ali, Kishore Das were good and will bring smile to the audience

Minus Points:

Bhaskar utterly failed in treatment and direction
Predictable story
Songs
Dull Screenplay
Climax

Analysis

As told earlier, director bhaskar has changed his genre and tried his hand this time with mass elements. He has made some nice films like 'Bommarillu' and 'Parugu' in the past and one wouldn't expect this kind film from him. Ram justified his tittle 'Energetic Star' with his energetic performance but as said by many, script must be the main hero for the film. Songs are big minus for 'Ongole Gitta' and not even a single song is catchy.

Director unfolded the real drama in the second half still the tempo remains the same. On a whole, Bhaskar failed to make a Mass film and it will be better if he can stick to his genre(Love Stories). There is nothing wrong in tested and tried subject as story line, but the treatment is all that matters nowadays. In this remakes period, directors are remaking the old films with new treatment. Unfortunately, Bhaskar stepped out of his comfort zone and tried to show the world he can direct mass films too and failed miserably.

There is no drama or emotional scenes in the film. The director should have added few emotional scenes on father - son relationship which are his strong forte.  It would have facilitated hero Ram also prove his acting talent.  The comedy is forced and is not effective except the ‘Tikkavari Palle’
episode. The romantic track between the hero and the heroine is not written well.Prakash Raj's nudity. Why the director chose to show him nude is shocking. What he had achieved with it, other than getting ‘A’ certificate, is debatable. Nude scenes are not only unconvincing but are at the
same time disgraceful.

Final Word: 'Ongle Gitta' is a eneregtic mass entertainer with key commercial ingredients mixed in low doses. Sadly the movie ends up as a below average entertainer.Ram’s energy levels, Prakash Raj’s performance and Kriti Kharbandha’s beauty are the sole redeeming factors.Watch it for Prakashraj and Ram.
