Actress Bipasha Basu who has carved a niche for herself in the industry, believes there are no great roles written for any actress except Vidya Balan.
She says there are many actresses who have a number of Rs.100 crore films in their resume, however, none of those films have strong character for the lead actresses.
In her recent media interaction, Bipasha said, “With an exception of Vidya Balan, I don’t know if any actress or any of my contemporaries who can boast of great films they have done. It could be a Rs 100 crore film but I don’t know what content there is for a girl to do.”
Interestingly, Bipasha admitted that it’s not like there is a lack of talent but she complained that our filmmakers don’t write good characters for actresses.
“I think each of us are talented but we don’t have projects to showcase our talent. We write really bad roles for women,” told she.
Meanwhile, Bipasha is right now busy with the promotional activities of her latest film ‘Aatma’ which is a supernatural thriller. It’s Bipasha’s second consecutive horror film after Vikram Bhatt’s ‘Raaz’.
About doing more horror films, Bipasha revealed that she get so much offers for the films belonging to the genre.
“I get an offer of ten horror films per week. May be I should become a horror specialist. I need to do something new soon,” laughed Bipasha.
‘Aatma’ also starring Nawazuddin SIddiqui is scheduled to hit the big screen on March 22. It is directed by debutant director Suparn Verma.
