Mirchi effect: Distributors in rejoicing mode
Distributors are having a tough time recovering the investment on big films these days as the producers were keen on selling the theatrical rights for record prices rather than focussing on the returns.
Taking the stats of Krishna district as an example, the rights of any of the top heroes films would fetch anywhere between Rs 2.25 - Rs 2.75 crore in this territory. If a film turns out to be a blockbuster, it would collect close to Rs 3 crore. Expect a loss of minimum Rs 1 crore if a star studded flick failed to hit the bull's eye. As a result, the distributors and buyers end up making losses most of the times.
However, things were different coming to Mirchi. The film was sold out for a low price of Rs 1.80 crore in Krishna based on the market range of Prabhas. Everyone associated with this action entertainer were happy now as the film was declared a blockbuster.
Trade pundicts say, Mirchi has managed to collect a share of Rs 2.35 crore so far in Krishna district and would cross the Rs 2.5 crore mark by the end of it's full run. By any means, this is a huge profit for the distributor and the buyers. The situation remains the same in all the other territories. Distributors who banked heavily on Prabhas growing popularity were rejoicing now due to Mirchi effect.
