It was close on the heels of Jagathy Sreekumar acknowledging his second wife that debutant director Fazal announced his maiden venture with Sreelakshmi Sreekumar — Jagathy Sreekumar's 17-year-old daughter from his second marriage — as the female lead. Apparently, the movie will have Sreelakshmi playing the love interest of Fahadh Faasil.
Sreelakshmi says she is excited as well as nervous about her acting debut. "I play Krishnaveli, a Brahmin girl, who is engaged to Raghuraman, played by Fahadh in the film," she says. Iyer in Pakistan is a murder mystery, which will also have Sanusha playing an important role. "Raghuraman, a bank professional, and Razia, played by Sanusha, meet during a train journey to Kochi. Accidently, their bags get exchanged. As Raghuraman goes in search of Razia to return her bag, he learns that she has committed suicide. The postmortem reveals that she was brutally raped and murdered, and unfortunately, all the evidence goes against Raghuraman. What follows next forms the crux of the story," says director Fazal, a state-level short film award winner. Sreelakshmi recalls that it was through actress Sukumari that she received the offer for the movie. She will join the set in April, after her board exams.
Quiz her whether she would like to seek her father's blessings before she starts her journey in the film industry, and Sreelakshmi says, "All are aware of the on-going tension between the two families. But I really want to meet him soon."
