Sekhar Kammula Faults Censor Board for LIB Rating:
Off late, the Censor Board members have been at the receiving end of a lot of criticism for their double standards. For some films they award an U/A certificate even though there is excessive use of cuss words and voilence, but for the rest they give U/A or A even though they are clean entertainers.
Even a director like Sekhar Kammula who is known for his clean films could't escape the Censor. His latest outing 'Life Is Beautiful' was awarded an U/A certificate, although it is eligible for a clean 'U'. This decision even surprised the director as all his previous films got U certificate. "I kept few liquor bottles in the foreground, to show the rich and poor divide. May be the U/A is given for that point. It looks funny," says Sekhar.
By doing so, the Censor Board is not only restricting a section of people from thronging to theaters but also killing the creativity of the filmmakers. Censor members should realize the need of maintaining the same yardstick for all the films. Sometimes, they forget that rules are made for us and we are not made for the rules. Hope things get better in future!
