Threat for Tollywood PROs:
The Tollywood circuit has still got certain conventional norms when it comes to few departments. One among them is the PRO stream. Even today, there are the traditional PROs who promote actors or films or film related events on an individual basis. But now they are all coming under one big threat.
It is heard that Mumbai's top PROs are eyeing Tollywood. they want to make their presence felt in Tollywood in a big way. Ideally, the Tollywood practice is that PRO keeps inviting all and taking care of media during the film's promotion events. And a cover of Rs 300 for big movies is also given to journalists.
Generally, journalists don't get much money in terms of salary but if they cover one or two events like this daily they get some revenue in the form of covers. In Bollywood the professionalism level is different. Right from grooming an actor and pampering their image till journalist media relations they will keep it tight. This is more of a corporate style approach.
If that happens, then the traditional PRO business will get damaged. Ultimately, money, glow and glitter matters. In Mumbai circuit, the PRO's have different treatment to different level of media. One cadre gets drinks party, one cadre gets money. Let us see how the Tollywood PROs work on this.
