Everyone came to know about Puri Jagannath's love for pets, when he posted a video in which he was seen with the world's smallest monkey. But that's just a sample, there is a lot more to know about this ace filmmaker's fascination.
Puri's office resembles a zoo, where one could see several species of fishes, ducks, parrots, monkey, dogs, birds and many more. The next addition to this list would be a pair of kangaroos which would arrive shortly.
The director's love for pets began in childhood and his first collection was 30-odd ducks. Later, he got attracted to the rare species and started importing them. He wouldn't hesitate to pay a whooping amount ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 5 lakhs to procure a pet and his job has become easier as there is no need of a license to import pets from foreign countries. And the director is spending Rs 3 lakhs per month from his pocket as maintenance charges for the pets like imported food, grooming and medical care.
For Puri, pets act like stress busters and he would never miss any opportunity to spend free time with them. That's why his collections keeps on getting bigger with each passing day!
