Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar inaugurated the fifth edition of Bangalore International Film Festival (BIFFES-5) on Thursday (December 20). BIFFES-5 will screen 140 films selected from 50 countries for which a budget of Rs 2 crore has been sanctioned by the government.
The films consists of different sections like - Cinema of the World, Asian Cinema, Kannada Cinema and Retrospectives. The screening kick-started with Netherlands language film Cow Boy and ended with screening of Brazil country The Clown. The film festival will be held in Bangalore from December 20 to December 27.
The festival is being organized by the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy for Government of Karnataka supported by Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce. There will be seminars, master classes for the students on different aspects of cinema, and a forum for studying the growth of Indian cinema to mark the celebration of its centenary year.
Koormavatara, Narassajjana Nursery, Prasaad, Kamsaale, Kaisaale, Shikaari, Ball Pen, Bhageerathi, Olavina Ole, and Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna are the Kananda films, which are selected for screening this year along with Konkani film Ujjwaadu (The Light), Tulu film Naa Puttana Mann (The Soil of my Birth) and Badi.
