'Rebel' director Raghava Lawrence has been directed to pay 2.5cr compensation to the producers of the movie for exceeding the budget limit. Reportedly, producers of 'Rebel' J Bhagawan and J Pulla Rao have lodged a complaint at Film Chamber that Lawrence has exceeded the budget and that has incurred them financial loss.
'Rebel' producers allege that Lawrence has promised to make the movie (first copy) in 22.50 cr, but has ended up at 40cr. The film released on September 28 has become a dud at box office.
