The Madras High court has come to the rescue of Mansoor Alikhan, by ordering a woman to pay Rs 50 lakh as damages to the actor, for leveling false allegations against him that he had raped her.
While passing the order, Justice T Mathivanan said the woman made malicious prosecution and defamation against Mansoor and ordered her to pay Rs 50 lakh to him.
The woman filed a complaint against Mansoor 16 years ago, stating that he had raped her when she approached him for help and she even gave birth to a girl child as a result of the incident.
Mansoor was arrested following the complaint and a lower court even awarded him jail sentence. But in his appeal in High Court, Mansoor proved that the woman was already married and her charges against him was only to extract money from him
