Mani Ratnam's recently released Kadal has come under scanner from a few Christian communities. Of all, India Chirstisthuva Jananayaga Katchi has demonstrated protest against the film claiming that the film depicts the community in "bad taste".

The organisaton members have met Chennai Commissioner and requested him to ban Kadal from screening. Interestingly, they have said that seven scenes, the same number of scenes objected by Muslim communities in Vishwaroopam, in the movie have hurt the sentiment of the Christians and they want it to be deleted immediately.

It has also blamed the Regional Censor Board for certifying the film and without raising objections to those scenes. Kadal is set in a Christian fishing territory. The main characters in the film are drawn from Jesus and Satan that will represent good and evil in the film. The major part of the film talks about regaining belief in the god. However, now, all eyes are set on the state government whether it could come hard against Kadal too
