Producer Spent Rs 15 Crore on Kajal Agarwal:
This might be shocking, but in reality it's true! A production house has spent Rs 15 crore for a film only because Kajal Agarwal, the most sought after actress, is playing the main female lead in it.
The Telugu theatrical rights of Tamil film 'Thuppakki' starring Vijay and Kajal in the lead, directed by AR Murugadoss were bagged by SVR Media for an exorbitant price. Although several bigwigs like Allu Aravind, Suresh Babu, Bellamkonda Suresh competed for the dubbing rights, SVR shocked them by finalizing the deal by paying Rs 15 crores which is many times higher than the market value of Vijay in Telugu. His last film 'Snehitudu' directed by Shankar bit the dust, despite Dil Raju releasing it in Tollywood. Vijay's market range in Telugu is not even 50 percent to that of small heroes here.
Although few of Murugadoss films have been appreciated by the Telugu audience, he is not a big brand in Telugu. So, the only saving grace of the film in Telugu and the reason for SVR paying such huge amount for the right is Kajal. There is no stopping for this Mumbai beauty after the record breaking success of Magadheera. Since then, her popularity has been increasing with each passing day. She has a certain amount of fan base and there are no doubts about her crowd pulling capability. But, can she pull it off (Rs 15 crores deal) and make the producer land in the profit zone or at least in the safe zone?Let's wait till the release on Diwali to know that!
